Mako Total and Partial Knee Replacement

Dr. Bright has performed conventional total and partial knee replacement for more than 20years.  15years ago, he began utilizing computer navigation in the operating room to improve the accuracy of the knee replacement.  10years ago, he began utilizing custom navigation to improve his knee replacement results.  Dr. Bright now offers Mako surgery, which uses a robot to improve the accuracy of the knee replacement.  The Mako procedure requires a CT scan, and the personalized 3 dimensional CT data is downloaded into the robot. When Dr. Bright then replaces the knee, the robot helps improve the accuracy of the bone cuts and can help prevent inadvertent ligament or neurovascular injury.  Although robotic knee surgery is still relatively new, some research articles have shown improved outcomes compared to traditional surgery.
